Seven underpowered batteries via Ebay France

After buying so many batteries and testing them surprisingly most were underpowered. (2.98)

I had one that read with the correct power (just) at 3 volts and I had to make a decision re whether to try again. I had bought an new soldering kit and would you believe it, the soldering iron did not work - anyway I had considered changing my precious 4600 motor board on this machine (my latest consul) to an older consul as a last resort. I took them both out and removed the rear panels and decided that as I had one remaining battery I would try again. Before I did this I checked the battery insitu and discovered it was below power again. |The second consul was an older one and not in great condition thanks to storage before I bought it and since, it was fragile.

I then bit the bullet and subjected my poor old consul to my hellish soldering skills. This time I used a bit of flux before soldering - to me these boards are so awkward to work on unless you want to unplug the whole consul and I did not fancy doing that. I managed to somehow solder it successfully- so happy because as you probably know the E6000 is my favourite machine and the 4600 motor is a superb motor (I have 2 but only one electric panel). The end result is that I have 2 updated consuls but only one with the 4600 board - now I have them in my studio they will not suffer the fluctuating temperatures of my old barn.

This turned out to be a very expensive exercise with the batteries costing 11.95 euros a piece - all came in single polybags so buyer beware. Note to self - find a reliable source.
