Brother 588 Knitting Machine

An earlier model that uses pushbuttons and a spanner to select the patterning needles - mine has a  stainless steel cast on comb and a lace carriage- it works fine and is a key selection type - very similar to the brother 710 - this machine is a beautiful deep blue colour.

 

This one needed a new sponge bar and the usual cleaning and oiling - as per all these Jones (Brother) types, the lace carriages reign supreme for ease of use and this one is exceptional -I do have another to test but this one looks like new.  The second one is a little later than this one but not in such good condition but works very smoothly.  One thing I do like about these machines as with all early models, the instruction books are exemplary.
