Toyota 950 standard gauge knitting machine plus 506 Ribber.
My second post re this machine with a bit of an update Tested these machines and after a bit of hassle finding bits they knitted fine. Tested punch cards, tuck and lace plus simulknit. Note the ribber is a bit of a pain to set up and I had to look for ribber screws which are now safely stored within in the 950 tool box in the machine.
The ribber Is packed away with no combs or weights as the boxes are too heavy for me to lift up on the shelves, I noted the combs are white so I must keep an eye open for them. With respect to the sinker plate and my woes with the broken rubber washers, I was able to use the star type rubber washers from a brother sinker plate and it seems to have worked – I also note the needles are supposed to be interchangeable with brother standard gauge, however I have no need for them right now. The post re this did point out the Brother needles were slighty shorter.

My ribber has 2 carriages as I damaged the cams on my original one when I dropped it, I also note I have a two simulknit connectors though I have no idea where the second one came from. (Makes me wonder if I bought the whole ribber or just bits, if I did buy the whole ribber I have been unsuccessful in my search for it, this would not surprise you if you could see the size of this place and of course there was the chaotic move.

Seriously fun machine although very heavy to use, the carriages are not as easy to knit with as the Brothers however the instructions are excellent as with all Toyotas. I tested the lace facility but must admit not the fashion lace, its way too much hassle and I seriously do not want to damage the needles until I am sure the rubber washers on the sinker plate can take the strain, no problem though with the simple lace.

I will though in the future try to ensure that every machine has its bits and pieces stored within and notes to myself where they are stored. I have attached a pic of the Toyota Ribber Brackets which have one distinguishing feature – they have a flat front – and even in a box of who knows what ribber brackets they were found easily. Also attached is a pic of the sinker plate with the replacement washers.
