Brother 800 Series
Brothers 830,836, 840,860 & 891 - I have several of the 800 series knitting machines and like all Brother machines, they are simplicity itself to operate. The patterning systems are 24 stitch punchcards and included with most are the wonderful Brother lace attachments.
The Brother garter carriage came about around the end of these series, and the difference is the inclusion of a garter carriage rail ie the rail at the back of the machine is perforated instead of smooth to accommodate the garter carriage. The later models of these machines ran a bit more smoothly than their predecessors. Highlighted is the 890 carriage, the special garter rail required to run the later garter carriages and the 890 lace carriage. This particular model has a built in knit leader.
